Welcome!

We lead gifted and interested young people to higher education.

Supporting and teaching gifted students is a central element of our mandate for a quality education. The Kantonsschule am Burggraben St. Gallen comprises a preparatory two-year Lower School (secondary school) and a main four-year Upper School (grammar school) with a broad and attractive range of courses. We endeavor to balance the transfer of knowledge to our students with their personal development. Our aspiration is to promote a culture of openness to inspire challenging teaching and learning, and to encourage cooperation and participation in our school.

A video clip of our school below shows the Kantonsschule am Burggraben from the perspective some of its own young people.

Mission statement of the school

It’s the school’s aim to provide pupils with the necessary knowledge that enables them to continue on a course of lifelong learning and promotes their open-mindedness and ability to form independent judgments. The school aims at a broad, evenly-balanced and coherent education that is narrowed down by specific preparation for any particular courses of study or vocational training. The students achieve a personal maturity that will prepare them to take on demanding tasks in society. The school develops the students‘ intelligence, willpower, and sensitivity in ethical and artistic matters as well as their physical fitness. Students understand the national and international context of their natural, technical, social and cultural environment both in its present and historical constraints. They are ready to accept responsibility for themselves, their fellow human beings, society and nature.
